Young children and many scientists share similar qualities… both tend to have an innate sense of wonder and curiosity of the world around them. Engaging children in scientific inquiry in early childhood has many benefits including 1) a more positive attitude towards science, 2) better understanding of scientific concepts studied later, and 3) greater development of scientific thinking and reasoning skills.
The Small Scientists Society gives children ages 3-5 the opportunity to explore scientific concepts through developmentally appropriate practices over 12 weeks. During each weekly session, children are introduced to a specific STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) concept via a children’s book, review safety procedures, and explore the concept through hands-on activities. Families participating in the program will receive extension activities to further exploration at home.
The class is available as a 12-week subscription or walk-in (provided there is space available). The benefits of the subscription are that you have a guaranteed spot each week, discounted pricing (get 2 classes free), and you receive a discount on the optional lab coat and goggle sets.
