WATERWISE!

In one room your child can race boats down raging rapids, brew up a rain storm, irrigate fields, send a boat through a lock system, light up Charleston and just splash around – welcome to WaterWise! This exhibit shows children the importance of water in everyday life, but also how much fun it provides as well.

Highlights:

• As the rain comes off the mountain, operate the hydroelectric dams to light up Charleston.
• Remember the days of painting on the pool deck with a paint brush? Well we stepped it up a bit with a whole wall to paint with nothing else but water!
• It is not often that children see working lock systems these days – but at CML, they don’t just get to see it, they get to operate it!

Hints:

• Afraid your littlest one cannot reach the exhibit – have no fear, we have a special water table so everyone can join in the fun.
• As your child races boats down the rapids, show them that the rocks move! Watch as they figure out which rock pattern allows the boats to get down the rapids quickest!
