Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of our volunteer community. From the museum’s beginnings, community volunteers have played a vital role in shaping and sustaining the organization. We deeply appreciate the dedication and contributions of every one of our volunteers.
Elementary and Middle School Groups:
Volunteering at a young age instills a lifelong commitment to community service. We warmly welcome young volunteers as part of school, organization, and church groups. These young volunteers participate in adult-supervised projects, such as assisting with gardening or sorting art supplies. To ensure a safe and enriching experience, we require a minimum ratio of four children to each adult volunteer. Additionally, a Zoom orientation with at least one adult leader prior to the volunteer activity is mandatory. Send inquiries to volunteer@explorecml.org.
High School Students:
We applaud high school students for their dedication to community service.
- We are also accepting applications to the inaugural 2024-25 CML Scholars program for rising high school juniors and seniors. This unique program provides Lowcountry high school students with the opportunity to learn about the broader nonprofit community while gaining valuable insights into leadership and service and a $2,500 college scholarship. Through monthly education and leadership development programs, CML Scholars develop a deeper understanding of the impact of nonprofit work while volunteering in the museum on their school breaks and summer following the academic year.
College Students:
College is a time for exploration and growth. Volunteering at the Children's Museum offers college students a fresh perspective on the professional world they are preparing to enter. Currently, we accept college interns through the College of Charleston's Bonner program. If you are a college student interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic educational environment, we encourage you to explore internship opportunities with us listed HERE.
Corporate and Community Organization Volunteer Groups:
Teamwork makes the dream work! Volunteer groups from corporations and community organizations play a vital role in our operations. Whether it's preparing Brown Bag STEM kits, collecting supplies for our art studio, or supporting major events, volunteer groups make a significant impact while having fun together. One member of the group is required to attend a Zoom orientation prior to the volunteer activity. If your group is interested in learning more about how you can get involved, email volunteer@explorecml.org.
Thank you for considering volunteering at the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry. Together, we can continue to inspire and equip children to become creative problem solvers.
